ABCD Europe

Asset-based community development in action, all over Europe.

Hello there

I have been trying to get access to the 'skills cards' which Cormac used with us at a recent conference - 100 little cards with everything on from 'Can mend puncture' to 'Can do algebra'. They are supposed to be available via Cormac's website - anyone had any luck?!

Thanks

Hiya Cerys

My understanding is that these cards were actually developed by Social Spaces, not Cormac or his organisation. So you can order them through Social Spaces' Etsy shop (http://www.etsy.com/shop/SocialSpaces) the Skills Game is here: http://www.etsy.com/listing/65857285/social-spaces-workshop-skills-....

I'd recommend a look around Social Spaces site (http://www.socialspaces.org/), I find their approach suited to the way I work, and very grounded in practice.

I played the Skills Game recently with a community forum - it was great, such a simple and quick way for people to get to know each other and feel good about themselves and their group.

Good luck

Lorna

Thanks for this - will certainly look it up!

Hi Cerys,

The instructions for the game we played is attached. This is based on the work of John McKnight and Jody Kretzmann. Hope that helps. As you'll be aware there are other versions, that have used the capacity inventory. All great, hopefully we'll see a few more being developed and open sourced.

All the best,

Cormac

Thanks for this. I was very excited after our Aspull two days so am keen to use in our community. I've bought the ready-made cards from Social Spaces just to save time and I am very pleased with them. I will send this information round my colleagues.
