What brings you to ABCD Europe?
I am the strategic lead for 'prevention' within adult social care services. A major 'plank' in our approach to learning how to build on and build up people's social capital has been LAC. Linked with ABCD we are able to evidence some great outcomes for individuals and communities. Along with colleagues in Thurrock I am leading the UK's national LAC Network, supported by Ralph Broad. We are delighted to have Eddie Bartnik as our patron.

Dear Brian

Welcome to ABCD Europe, a site where you can talk to like-minded people about your ideas and experience of using asset based community development (ABCD). Everyone, whether they are new to this approach or experienced, will have a lot to learn as well as skills and knowledge to share. Your skills, knowledge and experiences are the assets of our ABCD community. We can all use this wealth of information to help us achieve our aspirations for better places to live. Share generously and reap the rewards of a rich ABCD community that can support and encourage you in your endeavours.

Use this site to ask questions about how others have done things, what has worked, how challenges have been overcome and to share your achievements so that we can celebrate together.

To get started post a photograph of yourself against your name. To do this, go to the ‘settings’ page. Browse your files to find a photograph, click on the file and then click on ‘save’ at the bottom of the page.

Check the members list to see if you know anyone. You can invite others to join ABCD Europe - go to the Members page, click on ‘invite your contacts’. Click on the plain white envelope and you will be able to enter your contacts e-mail address and a personal message. By inviting others who are interested in using ABCD, you will help our community to grow.

There are several discussion groups that you can join or you can start your own.

Keep us updated on your projects and progress by sharing links to your website, blogs and posting video links. We all share the same goal of seeing ABCD and other asset based approaches spread, so that people within communities value what each other have to contribute and make the best use of what is already there. For this reason, you will find the ABCD Europe community will be excited by your achievements and will want to encourage and support you.

I hope that you enjoy using this site and benefit from the support and knowledge of this community. If you need more information, help with getting started or have suggestions on what we could do better then please contact us.

all best wishes

Sam Clark
