The Hokey Cokey theory of community involvement

Written originally for my regular blog for the NHS AllianceIn relation to working with communities, NHS organisations regularly put their left leg in – out – and shake it all about. How many of us have seem HAZ, SRB and the like come and go? Have we ourselves been guilty of building a close relationship only to get a new job, new project and move on? This is extremely damaging to residents’ relationships with…See More

Self-help groups – from the margins to the core of care

This is going to be a difficult blog to write because it is intensely personal. We talk about self care but little is written about self-help groups. Put two people together that share a common issue, one finding their way and one who has got the t-shirt and see what happens. Peer support can offer challenge, aspiration and hope in a way you can’t get on your own or with your health professional.Let me explain. One day I was in Sainsbury’s cereal aisle when the phone rang. It was my sister…See More

Hi Heather

Thanks for joining the West Mids group. I need to post some updates, there's so much going on and not enough time to celebrate across all these great networks. Thanks for sharing your photos, a great way to get a flavour of what's going on in Coventry :)
