I am currently an independent Health Promotion & Public Health Consultant and international Network Coordinator and have an university degree as Socio-Economist, studied sociology, economy and politi¬cal sciences. Have worked as specialist for scientific further education at the Hamburger University for Economics and Politics (topic: new technologies and social change); From 1989 to 2011 I was working as senior lecturer for health promotion and management at the Academy of Public Health in Düsseldorf. My main working areas were: community health promotion, professional training in health promotion, management and leadership training. Areas of interests: health policy, salutogenetic concept of health, quality of life, social capital and health inequalities, equity in health and equality of opportunity for health.
In 1990 I was involved in several WHO/ASPHER activities where they begun to develop a common curriculum in order to create a European Master of Public Health (EMPH); 1991 I participated in the first ETC Health Promotion Training Course; since 2001 as lecturer and tutor in several ETC-PHHP Summer Courses. I retired in April 2011 but am still active as Independent Public Health & Health Promotion Consultant and international ETC-Coordinator (since 2010). I am also member of the international EnRiCH Network (EnRiCH stands for Enhancing Resilience and Capacity for Health).
I have some international teaching experiences at the Nordic School of Public Health, Sweden, and at Wageningen University, Netherlands. Furthermore I was engaged as external expert and lecturer for health promotion in Latvia, Albania and South Korea. For the University of Liverpool I have developed an 8-week-online module (Health Promotion) as part of their MPH online program.
He was speaker of the working group »Health Promotion at the community level« in the German Society of Social Medicine and Prevention (DGSMP) and is still consultant for the Federal Centre of Health Education, Germany (BZgA). He is member of the International Union for Health Promotion and Education (IUHPE).

What brings you to ABCD Europe?
Initially it was the 21st ETC-PHHP Summer Course 2012 'Assets for Health' in Wrexham, UK and the participatory approach in community health promotion (e.g. Healthy Cities project). This year, Cormac Russell was invited keynote speaker of our 22nd ETC Summer Course in Girona, Spain.

No, I found you in the Internet. Later on Lynne Kennedy a friend and colleague of mine attended the Haygarth Lecture of Cormac at the Chester University.2012.

Civil Society
